The larger the size of the ingot, the more serious the defects in the ingot, and the more difficult it is to improve the defects in forging, thus increasing the difficulty of forging. In the forging process, upsetting and drawing are the basic and indispensable processes. For forgings with special shape, die forging is also more commonly used. Proper use and maintenance of the mold is an effective way to improve the life of the mold. The main contents are as follows:

1. Preheating of the mold The mold must be preheated evenly before use to improve the impact toughness of the mold material and prevent breakage during use. The preheating temperature is generally 150~250℃. The preheating method is usually to preheat the red iron block in the die. Attention should be paid to prevent local tempering on the surface of the die bore and reduce the hardness.
Preheating temperature measurement, generally based on experience, such as spit spit on the mold yellow spots, that is, to reach the preheating temperature. If conditions can be measured by surface thermometer.

2. The cooling mold must be cooled at any time during the use of the mold, and the working temperature should not exceed 400℃, otherwise it will produce local tempering, resulting in the collapse and cracking of the mold bore.

Three, mold lubrication forgings factory mold lubrication in the process of working, in order to improve the life of the mold and the surface smoothness of the forging. The lubricant can be used as waste oil or a paste mixture of waste oil and graphite, or saturated salt water. Salt water mainly plays a cooling role, but also has a certain lubricating role, and the price is convenient, easy to use, health.

In order to prolong the service life of the mold, the production process must also have the correct operation method. Before the forging billet enters the die, the oxide skin should be removed to reduce the wear of the oxide skin on the die bore surface. The operation should be quick to avoid the forgings staying in the mold for too long; Large equipment processing small work should pay attention to the severity of the attack; When the forging temperature is reduced to the flying edge black, there is a rigid impact phenomenon, should immediately stop hammering; The upper and lower anvil face should be straight, and the concave anvil face often causes mold damage.
5. Timely revision of the mold forgings factory uses the mold. If the bulge or collapse of the rounded corner is found, it should be trimmed in time; Local peeling or wear can be surfacing welding repair welding, repair welding and then slightly grinding; When the die bore wear is serious, appropriate measures can be taken as appropriate to repair; If there is a crack in the die, the hot sleeve on the outside of the die can be covered.

In terms of the quality of large forgings, due to the role of the mold in the forming process, metal deformation is limited, the forged forgings are dense, the quality of the forgings is relatively good, the surface quality is good, the machining allowance is small, the utilization rate of materials is greatly improved, the production efficiency is relatively high, and the shape of the forging is more complex, You can also produce large forgings on small equipment, and you can also do local forming.
